Called Forward is the name of a Capital Campaign that you’ll be hearing a lot more about over the next six weeks. It is the result of a thorough and deliberate assessment of the state of our building, which identified an estimated $2 million in critical repairs and maintenance needs. The campaign is about much more than bricks and mortar and fixing a leaky roof, though. Our building is the physical foundation, not only of fellowship and worship for our members and friends, but of our outreach. It’s a meeting place for many outside groups, a place where strangers looking for a place of spiritual and human connection are welcomed, and it’s a temporary “home” for the homeless, our PADS guests.

See you there!

We also hope to further our commitment to mission and welcome by renovating showers, laundry facilities and storage for PADS, making updates in our kitchen, and improving our entryways and directional signage. And, we hope to make enhancements to our audio/visual system in the Sanctuary, helping to ensure that all can fully participate in worship.

Called Forward will ask you to consider two financial commitments. The first is to support our operating expenses, day-to-day ministry, and outreach via the Annual Fund. The second is a gift over and above your annual commitment (paid out over a three-year period) that will be used to care for our facility and better equip it for mission, welcome and worship now and for the years ahead.

Not Today

Posted on February 15, 2018 by Kendra Joyner Miller I stood a little awkwardly as people rushed by, many avoiding looking me in the eyes, heads down. Maybe, they too were avoiding the cold… or maybe they were just avoiding the young woman in a cassock and purple stole holding ashes. “Good Morning,” I
