One Voice Outreach Choir
One Voice Choir an interfaith high school choir that brings music and fellowship to area nursing homes and retirement centers, has made its home at First Congregational since 1982. For more than three decades, the choir’s primary purposes continue to be: 1). Outreach to senior citizens and shut-ins by bringing high school students together with residents at area senior and assisted living centers and 2). Fostering fellowship among teens.
Students rehearse and perform outreach concerts from September to mid-May each year. Each season, the One Voice Choir plans 8-10 outreach performances at retirement homes around the community. The teens not only sing, but spend time talking with the residents after every outreach performance. It is rewarding to see the delight on the residents’ faces while they listen to the music and talk to the teens. One Voice Choir provides a wonderful opportunity for teens to be engaged with senior citizens, share their musical gifts, and bring joy to others.
In addition to outreach efforts, the choir performs several concerts for the public hosted at local community venues and churches. See the current season schedule below.
