Community Groups

OASIS is a connection group for the local LGBTQ community on issues of faith. Hosted by FCCGE, we meet in person at FCCGE the first Wednesday and 3rd Sunday of the week from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Contact Dorothy Powers if interested.

Soul Sisters

1st and 3rd Sundays

11 am

Creating a safe space for women to be their authentic selves, share, laugh, be social, support one another and have lunch. Women need to prioritize themselves.

This group’s purpose is to form friendships with other women from discussing specific topics, outings, or just needed time away. Meetings are on the 1st & 3rd Sundays at the church, after worship September through May. For more information, contact Pastor Kyle .

Book Group

Church Book Club

Whether you are a casual reader or a serious book lover, this is your chance to gather monthly and share the love of stories and the ways they shape, inspire and inform us.  We read all kinds of books, both fiction and non-fiction, mostly reader-suggested.  We hope to see you there.

 View the 2024-25 schedule here.

Saturday Play Group  This group meets once a month, and is a wonderful way for parents and caregivers to meet each other and for children to make friends from church.  This play group is an opportunity for families with young children, in kindergarten and younger, to meet and build relationships for the children as well as the adults in their lives.  Older siblings are welcome to join play dates too, as an opportunity for them to have fun and to grow into their roles as mentors and nurturers, while building relationships with other adults in the congregation.  Check your Sunday bulletin, the church website or your weekly E‑Newsletter for further details.

Yoga

Community Yoga will be offered in a new format this year.  Instead of weekly community classes, Cathy will be offering workshops throughout the year, that you may sign up for in advance.  Some of the offerings will be:

 Yoga For Breathing and Relaxation

 Yoga For Low Back Pain

Fountain of Youth Yoga for Balance

 Yoga For Acing Your Midterms

Sign-ups and more information will be forthcoming in your Sunday bulletin, the church website or your weekly E‑Newsletter.

This is a women’s discussion group that is open to women of any faith or church affiliation. We choose religious or spiritual books and discuss one chapter at each meeting. Members of the group volunteer to lead discussions.

We meet on the 2nd & 4th Wednesdays each month, September through May. For more information, or if you’re interested in joining, contact Cindy Christensen (630-858-0038).

Small Groups

Want to get to know folks in our church on a deeper level?  Interested in spending time with others who want to get to know you better?  In effort to create opportunities for those who want to connect and support one another, we are starting up a few new Small Group opportunities in the following categories (and invite your ideas to create new groups):

  •  Couples in their 30s and 40s to meet monthly (in someone’s home or at church) for a time of fellowship, learning, and relating.
  •  Couples in their 50s and 60s to meet monthly (in someone’s home or at church) for a time of fellowship, learning and relating.
  •  Single women (widowed, divorced or single) who just want to get together to talk about life (again, the venue will be up to you).
  •  Senior Drop-In—meet with your friends or bring a new friend to forge new relationships.

For more information, contact Rev. Kyle Roggenbuck (kyle@fccge.org or 630-469-3096 ext. 11).
