Organist   

Shu-Hui Tsai, known as Janet, started her first organ lesson during her junior year in Taiwan Theological College & Seminary, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Church Music. Since then, she has been named the first prize winner for the organ scholarship competition in 2001 and 2002.  In 2003, Janet moved to Louisville, Kentucky to pursue her Master Degree. She received her Master of Music degree in Organ Performance at University of Louisville, where she won the “Melvin Dickenson Organ Scholarship” and was selected as “Outstanding Student in Organ Study” in 2005.

 

Janet received her Doctoral of Musical Arts in Organ Performance at the College-Conservatory of Music in University of Cincinnati, where she studied with Dr. Roberta Gary. She won the second prize for the Strader Organ Competition in 2008. She has served as church organist and music director in different denominations. Currently, she serves as a music director in Chicago Musica Chorus Ensemble and NorthShore Melody. She is also a piano instructor at the non-profit organization Music Blocks in Sunny Hill Elementary School.

 

Janet lives in Hoffman Estates with her husband Henry. For her leisure time, she loves to cook, bake, grocery shopping, gardening, rock climbing, traveling, and playing piano duet with friends.
